Year 5 Ancient Greek Day
The history group "History off the Page" came in to school to run an Ancient Greek Workshop.
On the 25th January year 5 had a Greek day. We had a man from Greek times visit and we were Athenians from Athens for the day. The man also told us about a war that we had to defend, there were lots of stalls that we could participate in like pottery shops, candle shops and even a doctors. Each person in Athens had a job there were slaves, doctors, warriors and pottery makers. After lunch we prepared 3 plays and a dance we only had30 minutes to learn them and to perfect them. At the end of the day we enjoyed a Festival of Plays with a Greek banquet. Before we performed, the slaves handed out red wine (Ribena!) and we stood up and gave a toast!
